Police are questioning whether seven murders could have taken place inside a small terrace house in Bengaluru after inspecting the cramped space.

The Crime Scene

Indushekhar lived with his wife Sunita and daughter in a 500-square-foot house on the terrace of a two-storey building in Rajajinagar, located 50 metres from Bhashyam Circle. The ground floor has commercial establishments including a watch repair shop, a tea stall and a condiments shop, while the entire first floor is used by a small political party. The second-floor terrace home is reached by a very narrow staircase, and the rooms are crammed with household appliances and scattered items with a wall board reading "Police Voice".

Police Investigation

The accused claims that all seven murders happened inside the house, and police investigation points to a high probability that this is true. An officer stated that while he may have cleaned the entire scene, residues were found at the location. However, police remain puzzled about how the bodies were moved down to the road and into a car given the tight space, and they suspect that the minor daughter may have helped. Investigators believe the bodies could only have been shifted during the night because the lane is mostly packed with commercial establishments.

Context

Crime investigations often face major challenges when dealing with cramped urban spaces and multi-story buildings surrounded by active commercial areas. Police typically rely on forensic evidence like residue traces when the physical layout of a crime scene makes movement and transport difficult to reconstruct.
