The Hasanamba Temple in Hassan continues to draw thousands of devotees every day for its annual festival. Since the doors opened on October 29, more than 20.30 lakh people from across the State and outside have visited the temple. Hassan Assistant Commissioner and temple administrator Jagadish Gangannavar stated that total visitors this year could reach 30 lakh. Around two lakh people visit daily, while weekend and holiday crowds climb to 2.8 lakh. Ticket and laddu sales alone have generated ₹14.74 crore with four days of the festival still remaining. Last year's festival saw over 26 lakh visitors and total collections of about ₹25.59 crore from special entry tickets, laddus, and hundi offerings. Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy are scheduled to visit the temple on Sunday. The historic temple remains open exclusively during the annual festival period and will close its doors on November 11.
Context
Temples that open only once a year often draw massive crowds of pilgrims due to the limited window for worship. Large religious gatherings require extensive crowd management and administrative planning by local authorities to handle millions of visitors safely.
