Houthis say they carried out six coordinated missile and drone operations against Saudi Arabia on September 19 and early November, hitting Aramco oil facilities, the fuel storage area of Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport and various Saudi troop and military installations. The claim was made on Saturday, November 7, 2026, when the group posted the details on X through military spokesperson Yahya Saree. The group, backed by Iran and fighting a Saudi‑led coalition that supports Yemen’s internationally recognised government, described the attacks as targeting both sides of the border, affecting Saudi infrastructure and coalition forces in Yemen. A large black plume of smoke was observed rising from the airport’s fuel depot on September 19, confirming the reported strike. According to the spokesperson, the six operations were directed at Aramco oil sites, Riyadh airport and Saudi military facilities located in Saudi Arabia and in Yemeni territories under coalition control. The Houthis said the strikes were part of their broader campaign against the Saudi‑led coalition that backs Yemen’s recognised government. Saudi officials have not yet released a detailed response to the allegations.

Context

The Houthis have repeatedly used missile and drone tactics to pressure Saudi targets since the Yemen conflict escalated in 2015. Their ability to strike deep inside Saudi territory, such as at the capital’s main airport, highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by the coalition.
