INDIA bloc MPs plan second meeting and march to Rajghat as protest escalates

This follows a previous gathering that turned into a street protest.

Details

Those expected to attend the lunch meeting include TMC members Derek O'Brien and Mahua Moitra, CPI(M) leader John Brittas, IUML representative E T Mohammed Basheer, CPI leader P Sandosh Kumar, along with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Mallikarjun Kharge.

Context

Security has been tightened at Rajghat and Section 163 of the BNSS has been imposed by Delhi Police following the announcement of the protest by the Congress. Opposition parties have been staging demonstrations to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
