Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia issues safety advisory after airport attacks

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has advised all Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to stay indoors and remain alert following an evolving security situation. Issued on Thursday evening, the advisory also tells citizens to strictly avoid sharing or reposting any videos and news about the ongoing events on social media. Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, the Consulate in Jeddah, and VFS outsourced services continue to operate normally.

Background

The advisory follows recent attacks on Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that left three people dead and injured dozens more over two days. Saudi authorities attribute these strikes to Houthi militants using armed drones and missiles against civilian infrastructure and energy facilities in border regions. India's Ministry of External Affairs strongly condemned the attacks, calling the targeting of civilian locations completely unacceptable.
