Software executive from Singapore shot dead in Faridabad after parking dispute
Reported by Vivek Joshi (Copy Editor) · Hindustan Times - India ·
A 43-year-old software executive visiting his family for Diwali was shot dead by his neighbour in Faridabad on Friday following months of arguments over a pet dog and parking space. The victim, Paramjith Dhankhar, worked for FPT Software Company Limited in Singapore and previously served at Tech Mahindra. The suspect, 42-year-old contractor Mohan Sharma, fired 15 to 19 rounds from a licensed handgun in the stilt parking area of their building in Sector 21C.
Background
Relatives stated that the two families had fought for three months because Sharma's German Shepherd pup defecated in the ground-floor parking lot. The dispute escalated when Dhankhar filed police complaints over verbal abuse, damaged entrance gates, and issues regarding an underground water tank. Police had summoned Sharma to a police post on Friday morning, where he allegedly threatened Dhankhar.
The Incident
Later that evening, Sharma called Dhankhar down to the parking area under the pretext of moving a car and resolving the conflict. He then opened fire at close range, emptying two magazines and hitting Dhankhar at least nine times. Eyewitnesses rushed the victim to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Arrests And Charges
Police arrested Sharma in Ballabgarh on Saturday and recovered his handgun along with 59 live cartridges and two magazines. An FIR was registered at the Surajkund police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including murder and criminal conspiracy, naming Sharma, his wife, and his children.
Context
residential parking disputes in densely populated Indian urban areas frequently escalate into violent confrontations due to shared civic space frustrations. Local authorities often advise community mediation or formal legal channels to resolve neighborly grievances before they turn fatal.
