Sighting In Mumbai
BYD's Denza D9 luxury MPV has been spotted in Mumbai for the first time, wearing a grey exterior finish without any camouflage. Recent spy shots show the vehicle being unloaded from an enclosed transporter as preparation ramps up for the brand's upcoming India entry. Images of the unmasked vehicle, credited to Aryamane Dhanraj, reveal a full-width illuminated tail lamp assembly, prominent lettering, a D9 badge, and a roof spoiler with an integrated stop lamp.
Specifications And Lineup
The large luxury MPV measures roughly 5,250 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,920 mm high, with a 3,110 mm wheelbase and a seven-seat cabin. Overseas versions offer powered sliding doors, heated and ventilated second-row captain seats with massage functions, powered leg rests, and rear screens. The brand plans to debut in India on November 13, 2026, with both the D9 and the green Denza Z9 GT expected to form its initial lineup. These vehicles are expected to arrive as CBU imports through a separate premium retail network, entering a segment that already includes the Toyota Vellfire, Lexus LM, and MG M9.
Context
Luxury multi-purpose vehicles are increasingly gaining traction in India as buyers look for chauffeur-driven comfort comparable to high-end luxury sedans. Bringing vehicles in as completely built units allows international brands to test the local market quickly before deciding on local assembly plans.
