Light to moderate rain is likely to fall in twelve districts over the next three hours until 10 pm, according to an official bulletin from the regional meteorological centre in Chennai.

Rain Forecast Details

The short-term spell brings rain to places in Namakkal, Karur, Perambalur, Salem, Kallakurichi, Madurai, and Tiruchirappalli districts. Specific pockets in Dindigul, Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Sivaganga, and Tiruvarur districts will also receive wet weather during this window.

Weather Systems

An atmospheric circulation persists over south coastal Kerala at a height of about zero point nine kilometres. A trough of low pressure extends from this circulation up to south interior Karnataka. Meanwhile, a fresh low-pressure area is also likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal and move northwestward over the next four days toward north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coastal areas, raising rain prospects in coastal districts according to Thanthi TV.

Context

Atmospheric circulations and low-pressure troughs during this period frequently bring seasonal rain showers to southern parts of the country. Weather departments issue short-range forecasts to help residents prepare for sudden wind and lightning activity.
