Delhi Police declared a proposed demonstration by the Cockroach Janata Party on October 10 illegal due to strict public gathering limits. Deputy Commissioner of Police Shrishti Pandey stated that Section 163 remains active across the capital. Authorities confirmed that demonstrations are barred at Jantar Mantar and all other city sites while these rules stay in place.
Security Setup
Security officials announced that roughly 23,000 personnel will be deployed across the city from October 8 to 12. The Ministry of Home Affairs sent extra companies of Central Armed Police Forces to help the local force manage the security setup. Intelligence teams are also tracking social media to catch calls for unauthorized assemblies and prevent clashes.
CJP Demands
The political group plans to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during the march. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke spoke at an earlier event in Bengaluru where he accused the Prime Minister of stealing votes and undermining democratic bodies. The Bengaluru gathering also featured YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and actor-activist Prakash Raj, alongside citizens whose names were allegedly removed from voter lists.
Context
Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita empower local authorities to ban public assemblies of four or more people to maintain public safety. Major cities frequently invoke these emergency powers during periods of anticipated civil unrest or high-profile political demonstrations.
