Indian Railways has cancelled more than 35 trains ahead of a planned protest by the Cockroach Janta Party in Delhi on October 10, 2026. The move aims to prevent severe road traffic congestion around the New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations.

Train Services

All mail and express train services will remain cancelled between 4 am and 2 pm on Saturday. Premium services like the Rajdhani Express and Shatabdi Express are among those affected. The cancellations follow an earlier incident on Thursday when around 5,000 passengers missed their trains due to heavy crowds and road blockades. Other capital stations including Anand Vihar, Delhi Junction, and Delhi Sarai Rohilla will remain open.

Official Stance

The Ministry of Railways stated that intelligence inputs and traffic advisories warned of severe road jams in Central Delhi during the protest hours. According to North Central Railway chief public relations officer Dr Shivam Sharma, trains are cancelled from their originating stations to avoid passenger hardship. Passengers can check updates through the railway helpline 139 or the National Train Enquiry System app.

Context

Large-scale political demonstrations in capital cities frequently trigger major traffic restrictions and security measures that disrupt public transport networks. Railway authorities often halt or divert long-distance services ahead of such events to prevent travelers from getting stranded on blocked roads near major terminals.
