Jodhpur pandit Kamlesh Dave has listed six auspicious muhurats for Diwali puja on 8 November, with the prime window from 12:45 am to 3:41 am called Singh Lagna. He advises worshippers to perform Shri Sukta Yajna and offer oblations during that period to gain Lakshmi’s endless grace. The same day the city will host joint worship of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha, Goddess Saraswati and Kubera. Markets across Jodhpur are already lit up and crowded, with shoppers gathering since early morning. To ease movement, officials have drafted a traffic plan that bans entry of heavy vehicles and four‑wheelers into the main market zones and routes traffic through diversions. The plan also restricts heavy‑vehicle entry city‑wide during the festival. According to Hindustan, the evening of Diwali falls under Rahu Kaal from 4:10 pm to 5:31 pm, a period considered inauspicious for any sacred work, so devotees are advised to avoid rituals then. Astrologers also recommend lighting a lamp in the home’s northeast (Ishan) corner, as Vastu tradition says it pleases all deities. Charitable acts such as donating food, grains, money, blankets or sweets are deemed especially meritorious today. The next Diwali after this year is scheduled for 29 October 2027, which will also fall on a Friday. ## Context The listed timings blend traditional astrological advice with practical city‑level measures, showing how festivals are managed both spiritually and logistically in Indian cities.
