Suzuki confirms updated SV650 for 2027
Reported by Vivek Joshi (Copy Editor) · Autocar India ·
Suzuki has confirmed that the SV650 is set for a significant update for 2027, following a California Air Resources Board (CARB) certification. The update brings a new version of the 645cc V-twin engine, which debuted on the SV-7GX earlier this year. The SV650 will share the updated engine with the SV-7GX, allowing Suzuki to reintroduce the model to European markets. The new engine is expected to produce peak output figures of 73.4hp and 64Nm. Reports also suggest that the updated SV650 will feature a ride-by-wire throttle, riding modes, traction control, a bidirectional quickshifter, and a 4.2-inch TFT display. The filing for the 2027 model year in the US indicates a global unveiling later this year, possibly at EICMA, where Suzuki unveiled the SV-7GX for the first time. The SV650 has been a popular model overseas but was never officially sold in the market. The updated model could change this, but the details remain unclear. The SV650's return to European markets is a significant development, following the current model's discontinuation due to Euro5+ regulations. Suzuki has been absent from the European market since the discontinuation of the SV650. The global market is eagerly awaiting the update, and a global unveiling is expected to generate significant interest.
