Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3 has crossed the Rs 400 crore mark worldwide in just eight days, making it the highest-grossing film of the actor's career. The previous record belonged to Singham Again, which earned Rs 372 crore globally during its 2024 run.
Box Office Numbers
The film earned Rs 14.50 crore on its second Friday across 14,583 shows, following a Rs 13 crore collection on Day 7. India gross collections stand at Rs 312 crore, while overseas earnings reached Rs 95 crore after adding Rs 6 crore on Day 8, bringing the total worldwide gross to Rs 407 crore. The movie saw an 11.5 percent rise in collections on Day 8 with a 17 percent overall occupancy, recording over 10 million total footfalls and more than 500,000 viewers on Day 8 alone. It is now only Rs 21 crore behind the worldwide collection of Hanuman Ansh.
Cast Changes and Crew
The final instalment of the franchise underwent script and cast changes after Akshaye Khanna exited due to creative differences and a fee disagreement following the success of Dhurandhar. Jaideep Ahlawat joined the cast to play a new character instead of replacing Khanna's role. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the movie features returning actors Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, and Mrunal Jadhav, along with new addition Prakash Raj.
Context
Box office milestones in the Indian film industry are heavily driven by strong second-weekend momentum and overseas markets. Sequels and established franchises often benefit from existing viewer loyalty, helping them achieve high footfalls quickly.
