Robin Fellhauer nets Bundesliga’s quickest goal as Augsburg draws 2-2 with Bayern

Robin Fellhauer set a new Bundesliga record by scoring eight seconds after kickoff, the fastest goal in league history, against Bayern Munich on Saturday. The goal came when Bayern passed the ball back to goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, whose attempted chipped clearance went awry and landed at Fellhauer’s feet. Augsburg led 1-0 early, but Bayern fought back after halftime. An effort was ruled offside in the 51st minute, and Ismael Saibari equalised four minutes later. A second Neuer mistake in the 64th minute saw his punch of Calvin Brackelmann’s shot fall to Rodrigo Ribeiro, who nudged the ball home for a 2-1 lead. Bayern responded when Harry Kane, after striking the woodwork, fed Nathaniel Brown, who tapped in the equaliser with ten minutes remaining. Leroy Sané’s (actually Gnabry) shot hit the post three minutes later, and the match ended 2-2. The draw left Bayern on 11 points in second place, while Borussia Dortmund sit top with 13 points. Coach Vincent Kompany had called the trip a “priority game” after Augsburg’s lone league win over Bayern in Munich last season, but could not have imagined such a start. The result marks the second time in five games Bayern have dropped points this season.
Other Bundesliga Action
Bayer Leverkusen beat Mainz 4-3, continuing its rise under Carles Martinez. Union Berlin secured a 1-0 win over newly promoted Elversberg thanks to a late goal by Livan Burcu. Stuttgart drew 2-2 at Paderborn and Hamburger SV also finished 2-2 against Hoffenheim.
Context
Fast starts like Fellhauer’s eight‑second strike are rare in top‑flight football, highlighting how a single early mistake can change the flow of a match.
