Google has launched the new Fitbit Air, a screen-free fitness tracker priced at 13,999 rupees that aims to bridge the gap between traditional smartwatches and smart rings.
Design and Comfort
Measuring 17mm wide and 8.3mm thick, the tracker is lightweight and pebble-shaped, sitting inside a fabric loop band that fastens with a Velcro-like strap. It is available in obsidian, fog, lavender, and berry colors, and the fabric band is washable and designed for comfortable all-day and sleep wear.
Features and Charging
The device tracks resting heart rate, sleep stages, blood oxygen levels, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and irregular heart rhythms for atrial fibrillation, alongside workouts and steps. It delivers around a week of battery life and charges fully in about 90 minutes, or gains a full day of use from a five-minute charge.
AI and App Experience
Powered by Gemini AI, the built-in Google Health coach provides personalized insights on recovery, workouts, and lifestyle habits through a conversational format. While basic metrics work without a subscription, advanced features and the AI coach require a Premium plan after a free three-month trial.
Context
Fitness trackers have increasingly shifted toward screen-free designs to offer continuous health monitoring without the distraction of frequent notifications. Integration with artificial intelligence represents a growing industry trend aimed at helping everyday users interpret complex physiological data.
