Opposition parties plan to head toward the Supreme Court on Monday to hand over a written petition to Chief Justice Surya Kant. They want a stop to the special voter list revision process and the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi stated in a video message that citizens across backgrounds will take part in the peaceful walk. He claimed that young citizens protesting in Delhi faced physical attacks from police forces and ruling party supporters. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge stated that ten to fifteen leaders will meet the top judge between 4 and 5 pm to share their worries. Kharge also alleged that the country is currently facing an undeclared emergency due to actions by the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister. Organizers plan to keep specific strategies hidden until Monday morning to prevent early police blockades. Leaders from multiple political factions plan to join the demonstration alongside MPs and student groups. Trinamool MP Derek O'Brien and senior Congress leader K C Venugopal condemned the police actions against demonstrators and media workers. Venugopal stated that reporters and bloggers faced detention and physical harm while covering the events. This follows a previous visit by opposition members to meet President Droupadi Murmu on Friday to discuss similar complaints.

Context

This political friction centers on the administration of voter list revisions and the actions of election authorities. Opposition groups routinely use public protests and judicial appeals to challenge government decisions when political disputes escalate. Demonstrations in the national capital frequently draw heavy security responses and lead to high-profile confrontations between law enforcement and political workers.
