BSE's average daily traded value for the first half of the fiscal year (FY27) has shown a significant rebound, reaching around Rs 26,200 crore. This represents a substantial increase from the same period last year, with the benchmark index, BSE Sensex, experiencing a sharp 12% decline over the same period. The BSE's average daily traded value (ADTV) market share has also shown a notable increase, standing at around 35.2%. Analysts attribute this growth to the improved market conditions, with CAS (Customs Advisory Services) playing a crucial role in facilitating smooth transactions. Industry insiders point out that CAS has maintained a premium-to-notional turnover ratio of around 12.4 basis points, compared to 17.2 basis points for the industry as a whole. This indicates a relatively stable market environment. Additionally, the recent surge in market capitalization of several companies, including one order from Power Grid Corp, which added $1 billion to the market cap of a company, suggests a growing investor confidence. However, industry experts caution that banks have received a flood of money, and now faces the real test, as they navigate the challenges of managing this influx of liquidity. In related news, Coal India's latest earnings report has highlighted the need for sustainable coal production practices, with the company's stock price experiencing a slight volatility. The Indian economy is also grappling with concerns over its vulnerability to global economic shocks, with experts warning that 10 other possible chokepoints for the global economy, including India, need to be monitored closely. Meanwhile, the ongoing discussion around the yuan becoming the new yen has sparked debate among economists, with some arguing that this could have significant implications for the global economy.
