The Mumbai Police Crime Branch Unit 5 has arrested three people in connection with a network that supplied bank accounts and SIM cards for routing cybercrime proceeds. Police suspect transactions of approximately ₹350 crore passed through associated mule accounts, with one examined account allegedly handling ₹6.98 crore between May 21 and August 20. The seizures are particularly revealing, as investigators recovered evidence of a structured financial supply chain. Cab drivers were allegedly recruited to open accounts and surrender control of their banking credentials in exchange for payment. He stressed that banks, fintechs, payment operators, technology providers, and standards bodies must work together to address quantum resilience as an ecosystem-level problem. The Deputy Governor's message is significant, as India's digital-payment infrastructure has reached a scale where cyber incidents or outages can have systemic consequences. Banks should not wait for cryptographically relevant quantum computers before taking action. Cryptographic asset discovery, identification of vulnerable algorithms, crypto-agility, post-quantum migration planning, vendor readiness, and testing are essential steps. A technically important Indian cybersecurity incident emerged on September 11, when a subdomain associated with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) was found displaying a spoofed Cloudflare verification page using a TerminalFix/ClickFix-style social-engineering attack. The malicious page reportedly places a command on the visitor's clipboard and persuades the user to paste and execute it through Windows Terminal.
