The proposed strategy involves three key steps: embedding evaluators from third-party organizations to verify AI safety commitments, coordinating common safety standards and limits on AI progress among leading companies, and promoting global coordination to counterbalance Chinese AI dominance. Amodei has said Anthropic is 'unilaterally committing' to the second step, which would require coordination with democratic countries. The move comes as tensions between OpenAI and Anthropic have intensified, with researcher Jacob Coxon resigning from Anthropic over concerns about the industry's rapid advancement and its potential risks.
