RBL Bank has posted a net profit of ₹482 crore for the quarter that ended in September, marking a massive 170 percent jump compared to the same period last year. Higher net interest income and better asset quality drove this growth.
Financial Growth And Deposits
Net interest income rose 37 percent to ₹2,131 crore, while the net interest margin stood at 4.61 percent. Operating profit jumped 92 percent to reach ₹1,396 crore. The bank's net advances grew 42 percent to ₹1.42 lakh crore, and total deposits increased 34 percent to ₹1.56 lakh crore. The current account and savings account ratio stood at 27.2 percent, and the capital adequacy ratio was 30.1 percent at the end of September.
Asset Quality And Liquidity
Asset quality showed clear improvement as gross non-performing assets dropped 131 basis points to 1.02 percent, and net non-performing assets fell to 0.29 percent. By August 31, the bank mobilised $3.4 billion, which equals ₹32,472 crore, through a concessional swap facility provided by the Reserve Bank of India. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer R. Subramaniakumar stated that the bank plans to use its remaining money in the wholesale banking segment to back bigger loans over the medium term.
Context
Banks in India often use special central bank swap facilities to manage foreign currency funds and boost their liquidity during specific periods. Strong credit growth and improving asset quality across major lenders generally reflect stable domestic demand and steady business activity in the wider financial sector.
