Police in Turkey detained 47 people during raids on gay bars and the homes of LGBTQ+ activists. The operations spanned 12 provinces over the weekend and were presented by the government as part of a campaign called "My Family is Safe" aimed at protecting family values. Riot police have a history of chasing LGBT activists whenever they try to organise pride parades, adding to the tension around the recent sweeps.
