Child Help Foundation distributed over two lakh sixty-four thousand sanitary napkin units across Assam, Bihar, and Maharashtra during August to support women and girls in flood-hit and rural areas.
State-Wise Relief
In Assam's Sivasagar, Tiwashong, and Paschim Nagaon districts, relief teams handed out twelve thousand units to two thousand people, including over two hundred girls at Kaumudalaya Children's Home and five hundred women on Jamuna Road. Bihar saw the largest share with two lakh fifty-two thousand units delivered through Anganwadi Kendras in Begusarai to thirty-five hundred beneficiaries. In Maharashtra, an awareness session at Ankur Children's Home in Mira Bhayandar reached forty-eight girls with two hundred eighty-eight units.
Leadership Statements
Head of the organization Shaji Varghese stated that menstrual health is tied to personal dignity and uninterrupted education, noting that relief must cover basic hygiene even during disasters. Executive Director Jiji John also attended the Mumbai session to encourage open conversations about bodily health, while home supervisor Sr. Nancy thanked the non-profit for the initiative.
Context
Menstrual hygiene management often breaks down during natural disasters like floods when supply chains fail and families focus entirely on basic survival. Non-profits frequently step in during such crises to prevent health risks and education dropouts among young girls.
