Apple will launch a new smart‑home hub at its "Welcome Home" event on Oct 13, 2026, alongside an upgraded HomePod mini and a refreshed Apple TV. Marketing chief Greg Joswiak posted a teaser last week confirming the date and hinting that the event will focus on connected home devices. The hub, expected to be the headline product, will feature a screen that can compete with Google Nest Hub and Amazon Echo Show, showing weather, calendar, music and smart‑home controls. It will run Apple’s S11 chip, pair Siri with AI capabilities, and may include a built‑in FaceTime camera for video calls. Apple is also reportedly developing a dedicated operating system for home‑control functions. The refreshed HomePod mini will keep its current design but adopt the S11 processor, promising faster Siri responses and possibly new colour options. No further hardware changes were disclosed. The updated Apple TV is said to house an A19 or A19 Pro chip, boosting gaming, streaming and multitasking performance. It will add advanced Siri AI for voice commands, HDMI pass‑through and a redesigned Siri Remote. Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman notes that all three devices will centre on Siri’s AI to tie together Apple’s smart‑home ecosystem, signalling a stronger push into the connected‑home market.
Context
Apple’s move mirrors a broader industry shift toward integrated voice‑AI hubs, where manufacturers bundle display screens, AI assistants and media devices to lock users into their ecosystem.
