Trump calls AI risk warnings baseless, cites negative forces
Reported by Aakash Bora (Staff Writer) · BBC News - World ·
UPDATE - follow-up to earlier Trump AI story: President Donald Trump said negative forces are bringing up AI risk warnings that will not happen. He made the statement during a visit to Ireland, telling reporters, “You have a lot of very negative forces that are bringing it up that shouldn’t be bringing it up and they’re bringing up things that won’t happen.” The comment followed several days of dire warnings from experts about artificial‑intelligence dangers. One warning came from a former Anthropic researcher who warned that there is a strong chance humanity could all die in the immediate future if the current pace of AI development continues. Trump’s dismissal of the warning stood in stark contrast to the researcher’s alarm. No official response from the White House was recorded at the time.
