Asian share markets drop as oil prices climb and interest rate fears grow

Share markets across the world are seeing big ups and downs lately due to fast-rising oil prices, higher bond yields, inflation worries linked to the US-Iran conflict, and the AI trade. On Monday, Korea's Kospi crashed by 3 percent. Japan's Nikkei fell by 1 percent, and the Taiwan Weighted index went down by half a per cent. These losses were pulled down heavily by AI stocks. Tense conditions in the Middle East are pushing oil prices up. At the same time, growing worries about potential interest rate hikes in both the United States and Japan this week are hurting market mood. Furthermore, Japan's Nikkei took a hit specifically because technology shares dropped after top leaders of major AI companies made calls.
