India secures steel export quota in draft EU trade deal
Reported by Imran Qureshi (Staff Writer) · Bing News - Automobile (India) ·
India has secured 1.64 million tonnes of steel export quota to the European Union under a draft free trade agreement released by Brussels. This quota covers 16 product categories, including specialised items like stainless hot-rolled quarto plates and metallic coated sheets. The agreement comes amid trade tensions over EU rules such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. The total country-specific quota is split into two parts. The free trade agreement component stands at 0.69 million tonnes, while the rest comes from the most favoured nation component available to all partner countries.
