Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that it took eighty years to restore the full glory of Vande Mataram. Speaking at a public event, Shah connected the promotion of Indian languages directly to cultural nationalism. He also defended the multilingualism rules inside the National Education Policy, calling them very important for the country.

Shah emphasized that linguistic diversity makes India's history and culture rich and strong. He pointed to Maharashtra as a top example of a state that uses multiple languages. The education policy aims to help students get familiar with many different Indian languages and cultures through its learning framework.
