The new 2027 Volvo EX60 electric SUV is here as a tech-focused replacement for the brand's gas-burning XC60. It runs on a new SPA3 platform with an 800-volt electrical setup that helps quicken charging times and boost energy efficiency. Volvo built the vehicle around its new HuginCore central computer system, developed with help from Google, Nvidia, and Qualcomm. This setup powers a 15.0-inch OLED touchscreen running an Android-based infotainment system. The base P6 model starts at $59,795, while the upgraded P10 model costs $2,350 more.
Performance and Range
Both the P6 and P10 variants can regain about 160 miles of driving range in just 10 minutes using a DC fast charger. A standard NACS port lets drivers plug in easily at Tesla Superchargers. The P10 test car hit 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and covered the quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds at 114 mph. EPA range estimates reach up to 330 miles for the P10 and 307 miles for the P6 depending on wheel size. Inside, the EV offers 20 cubic feet of rear cargo space, a small front trunk, and up to 58 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
Context
Automakers are increasingly shifting toward software-defined vehicles that rely heavily on central computing systems and over-the-air updates rather than traditional mechanical upgrades. Electric SUVs like the EX60 use structural battery packs and aluminum casting methods to reduce overall vehicle weight and improve driving range.
