The new Aprilia SXR GT 125 has officially arrived in the market as the direct replacement for the older SXR 125 model that was quietly taken off shelves in May this year. This entry-level maxi-scooter shares its underlying platform with the current SR 125 hp-e.
Specifications And Features
The upgraded scooter runs on a 124.5cc single-cylinder engine that puts out 10.6 horsepower at 7,400 rpm and 10.4 Nm of torque at 6,200 rpm. This motor complies with BS6 OBD-II Stage B rules and can run on E20 fuel blends. A key mechanical change is the shift to 14-inch wheels, replacing the 12-inch wheels seen on the previous version. For rider utility, the model includes a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster along with a combined braking system. By comparison, the larger SXR GT 175 model launched at the same time features a TFT screen with Bluetooth pairing, turn-by-turn navigation, and single-channel ABS.
Price And Availability
Buyers can pick from three paint choices: Matte Black, Glossy Azzurro, and Glossy White. The scooter carries an ex-showroom Maharashtra price of Rs 1.10 lakh and is rolling out to dealerships across the country. At this price point, it sits about Rs 5,000 higher than the rival Suzuki Burgman Street, which retails for Rs 1.06 lakh.
Context
Maxi-scooters combine the ease of use of a standard scooter with larger body dimensions, a more relaxed riding posture, and touring-oriented styling. As stricter emission standards like BS6 phase two and E20 fuel norms take effect across India, two-wheeler makers continue to update their engine lineups to meet these environmental rules.
