UPDATE - follow-up to CJP legal head says Delhi Police arrested Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka in Jantar Mantar case: Delhi Police detained Cockroach Janta Party leaders Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and Ajinkya Shinde early on Tuesday for entering the Jantar Mantar area without permission. ## What Happened The trio breached barricades at the protest site after it was stripped of its protest‑site status on Oct 11, when the police earmarked Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground and CBD Ground for demonstrations. Police say they violated a peace bond signed after a previous detention, obstructed a public servant and ignored prohibitory orders. They were taken to Parliament Street Police Station in a private van around 3 a.m., denied access to lawyers until late night and are expected to appear before the Special Court of the Executive Magistrate later in the morning. Sources note the possibility of judicial custody at Tihar Jail. ## Context The arrests come as Delhi tightens security following a series of CJP rallies objecting to alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The party has criticised the shift of protest venues away from central locations, arguing it reduces the visibility of dissent.
