Sixth-grade student Payal Dixit became a symbolic district magistrate for a day, sitting in the official chair to hear public grievances under the Mission Shakti campaign. She listened to six people who came to the grievance hearing with various complaints.

Grievances and Actions

The issues raised by citizens included land grabbing, road blockades, illegal construction on government land, and housing problems. After listening to all six complainants, Payal directed the concerned officials to resolve the issues properly according to the rules. Following the session, District Magistrate Dr. Ankur Lathar honored her by presenting a potted plant.

Second Instance

In a similar initiative reported by Dainik Bhaskar in Hapur, a seventh-grade student named Nidhi from Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School also served as a symbolic district magistrate under the same campaign. DM Kavita Meina welcomed her with flowers, after which Nidhi heard complaints about road construction from residents of Pilkhua's Kishanganj neighborhood and phoned the local executive officer to order prompt work. Nidhi also reviewed women's safety programs, emphasized cleanliness, and received a citation and gift from DM Meina.

Context

The Mission Shakti campaign is designed to promote the safety, respect, and self-reliance of women and girls across the state. Giving students a chance to sit in administrative seats helps build their confidence and leadership skills while letting them see how government offices work up close. Such programs aim to inspire young girls to aim for leadership roles in administration, education, and other fields.
