Kawasaki has revealed the new Versys 900 adventure motorcycle, built on the platform of the popular Z900 sport-naked model.
Variants and Pricing
The motorcycle comes in two variants named the standard Versys 900 and the Versys 900 SE. In the UK, prices start at GBP 10,899 for the standard version and GBP 11,799 for the SE version, which translate to roughly Rs 13.74 lakh and Rs 14.87 lakh respectively. Both variants will become available from April 2027. The standard model comes in Metallic Spark Black and Pearl Robotic White. Meanwhile, the SE version is offered in Plasma Lime Green with Metallic Spark Black, and Firecracker Red with Metallic Carbon Grey. The SE variant also adds extra factory equipment like LED fog lights, frame sliders, heated grips, a radiator guard, knuckle guards, a lower cowl, and a centre stand.
Performance and Design
Both models use a 948cc in-line four-cylinder engine that delivers 122 horsepower and 97.3 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. The bike uses an all-new trellis frame designed for a near 50:50 weight distribution. Suspension duties are handled by upside-down front forks and a linkage rear mono-shock. The standard seat height sits at 825 mm and can be raised to 845 mm, while the bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels at both front and rear. Design-wise, the machine features a semi-fairing, a tall windscreen, dual-pod LED headlights, an upright riding posture, and a rear luggage rack.
Advanced Technology
The Versys 900 features Kawasaki's Advanced Rider Assistance Systems, utilizing front and rear radar tech for blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and an emergency stop signal. It also shares electronics with the Z900, including ride-by-wire, power modes, traction control, a bi-directional quickshifter, a 6-axis IMU, and a 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity.
Context
This new launch slots into Kawasaki's adventure tourer range between the existing Versys 650 and Versys 1100 models. While the standard Versys 900 is expected to arrive in India during the first half of 2027 to join the brand's local lineup, the higher-spec SE version is likely to be skipped for the Indian market.
