Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader T. Harish Rao has demanded 10 lakh rupees in ex gratia for the families of two agricultural labourers who died in a road accident in Karnataka. The victims, Asepu and Naganna, belonged to Induvasi village in Jogulamba Gadwal district, while the crash took place in Karnataka's Yadgir district. Mr. Rao also asked for free medical care for the injured workers and financial support for their relatives during a visit to the village.
Background
Around 40 Dalit families from Induvasi village in Gattu mandal had moved to Karnataka to find daily-wage work due to a lack of local jobs. Mr. Rao criticized the state government for failing to help the affected families and accused them of bringing back distress migration to the region. He warned that his party would start a strong protest if the government did not support the victims and ensure uninterrupted free power for farmers.
