Top golf stars and major winners head to Delhi for major international tournament

Top global golfers are gathering in the capital for the second edition of the DP World India Championship at the Delhi Golf Club. ## The Star-Studded Field Rory McIlroy and defending champion Tommy Fleetwood headline the field. The tournament features three of the four major winners from the 2026 season. McIlroy won the Masters at Augusta in April, while New Zealand's Ryan Fox claimed the Open title and Englishman Aaron Rai won the PGA Championship. Other notable players include Justin Rose, Patrick Reed, Bubba Watson, Shane Lowry, Luke Donald, Viktor Hovland, and Min Woo Lee. The total prize purse stands at USD 4 million.

Course Challenges

Players face a tough test on the tight fairways and tricky greens of the Delhi Golf Club. Trees line both sides of the fairways, limiting room for error from the tee. Bubba Watson noted that the course is a great test, while McIlroy pointed out that the rough is longer and thicker than last year, demanding patient and strategic play.

Indian Contenders

A large home contingent is competing in the event. Shubhankar Sharma, Anirban Lahiri, and Shiv Kapur are in the field, alongside Asian Games participants Saptak Talwar, Veer Ahlawat, and Yuvraj Sandhu.
