Toyota is preparing to launch an updated version of its popular MPV, the Innova Hycross, following the recent release of the Glanza facelift at a starting price of 6.99 lakh rupees. According to reports from Cartoq cited by Hindustan, the company may introduce the new Innova Hycross in November 2026 after testing the vehicle for the past three to four months, though an official launch date has not been confirmed yet.
Design Changes
The updated MPV features a revised front end designed to look more like an SUV rather than a standard family carrier. Key updates include a front profile inspired by the new-generation Toyota Hilux, featuring slimmer headlights connected by a wide black strip with the Toyota logo in the middle, alongside changes to the front bumper and fog lamp placement. Depending on the variant, the vehicle will offer alloy wheels ranging from 16 to 18 inches with a new design, while the rear gets updated taillights with LED elements alongside minor rear bumper tweaks and faux skid plates, though the tailgate itself remains unchanged.
Cabin And Features
Inside the cabin, the layout stays largely the same as the current model, but the upholstery and color themes are expected to change. The feature list retains elements like a large touchscreen infotainment system, an updated driver display, an improved 360-degree camera, connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, and ventilated front seats, with some reports also suggesting rear seat ventilation.
Engine Options
Toyota is keeping the existing engine choices for the facelift model. The 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers 173 PS of power and 204 Nm of torque paired with a CVT gearbox, while the strong hybrid version combines a 2.0-liter petrol engine with an electric motor for a total output of about 184 PS using an e-CVT transmission. Additionally, reports indicate Toyota may introduce an E85 flex-fuel version or a lower-feature hybrid variant aimed at fleet customers.
Context
Facelift updates allow car makers to refresh existing vehicle models with cosmetic changes and new features without undertaking a complete redesign from scratch. The Innova series has remained a dominant force in the Indian multi-purpose vehicle segment for many years due to its spacious seating and dependable engine performance.
