Apple's first smart display, the HomeView, does not arrive until November 13th, but shoppers can already buy it for ten dollars off at Amazon. The device is currently priced at $289.99 in gray and the creamy white starlight colorway. While this is a small discount, deals on brand-new Apple devices ahead of their official launch are rare.
Device Features
The HomeView features a seven-inch square touchscreen that resembles an oversized Apple Watch. According to Apple, the device is powered by Siri AI and is designed to serve as a shared household screen. It can recognize up to six household members by face and automatically switch between personalized experiences, displaying calendars, messages, and reminders relevant to whoever is standing in front of it. The device also supports FaceTime calls using Centre Stage to track a user's movement, plays music and podcasts, shows recipes, and controls smart home accessories. Apple noted that data is pulled directly from the user's iPhone and vanishes the moment they walk away.
Context
Smart displays have become popular additions to modern homes, serving as central hubs for managing connected appliances, viewing schedules, and making video calls. Pre-launch discounts on major tech hardware are uncommon, as companies typically rely on high initial demand before offering price cuts.
