BMW has expanded its electric vehicle lineup in India with the launch of the new i5 eDrive35L sedan, priced at Rs 79.60 lakh. The locally assembled model carries a Rs 3 lakh premium over its petrol-powered sibling, the 5 Series. This launch follows BMW's sales figures of nearly 2,400 electric vehicles in India during the first half of 2026, which were mostly driven by the iX1 and i7 models. The i5 eDrive35L features a rear-wheel-drive single electric motor that outputs 272hp and 410Nm of torque. It is equipped with an 81.6kWh battery providing a net capacity of 76.3kWh, and features an 8-year battery warranty along with optional maintenance packages of up to 10 years. In real-world testing, the sedan returned an efficiency of 5.06km/kWh, translating to an estimated range of 386km, and charged from 20 to 80 percent in 47 minutes using a 60kW DC fast charger.
