Liverpool to miss three key attackers in Champions League tie with LASK
Reported by Shreya Kapoor (Senior Writer) · ESPN India ·
Confirmed by a second source: Liverpool FC
Liverpool will enter Wednesday's Champions League match at Austria's Raiffeisen Arena without forwards Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo and midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.
What Happened
Isak pulled out of his national team duty with a thigh problem, Gakpo withdrew after hurting his ankle, and Szoboszlai came back from Hungary's camp with a tight hamstring. All three sat out the 3-0 loss to Manchester City on Sunday and have not recovered in time for the LASK game.
Reaction
Manager Andoni Iraola said the trio have been training with the squad but their status remains uncertain. He noted the club faces four games in ten days and a quick trip to Austria, making recovery tough. Iraola added that other players must step up, mentioning Bradley Barcola and Florian Wirtz as possible sources of goals.
Line‑up
Kostas Tsimikas captains the side, with Jeremie Frimpong joining the defence. The starting eleven listed by the club includes Alisson, Jacquet, Wirtz, Tsimikas, Barcola, Frimpong, Araujo, Gravenberch, Trey Nyoni, Koumas and Rio Ngumoha. The bench features Mamardashvili, Woodman, Gomez, Van Dijk, Kerkez, Mac Allister, Munoz, Chambers, McConnell, Danns, Sonni‑Lambie and Lucky.
Context
Losing three of the team's top scorers before a knockout match puts extra pressure on Liverpool's younger attackers, a pattern often seen after international breaks when players return injured.
