Jio Platforms has fixed its initial public offering price band at 1,065 to 1,119 rupees per share, aiming to raise 30,213 rupees at the upper end of the range in what could become India's largest public issue. The public subscription opens on Wednesday, 21 October, and closes on Friday, 23 October, while anchor investors will bid on Monday, 19 October.

Issue Details

The public issue includes a fresh issuance of up to 27 crore equity shares with a face value of 10 rupees each. Eligible employees applying under the reservation category will receive a 54 rupees per share discount. The offering also sets aside up to 500 crore rupees for eligible Jio Platforms employees and up to 2,500 crore rupees for eligible Reliance Industries shareholders. Grey market premium trends indicate an estimated listing price of 1,337 rupees, marking a 19.48 percent increase over the upper price band.

Key Risks

The company's red-herring prospectus outlines ten key risks for investors to consider. Major concerns include heavy financial dependence on its subsidiary Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, which generated 87.74 percent of consolidated revenue and 94.88 percent of EBITDA in fiscal year 2026. Additional risk factors cover spectrum availability, customer retention, average revenue per user, reliance on limited passive infrastructure providers, automated systems failure, statutory dues payments, insurance coverage, AI and machine learning model errors, brand trademark usage by other Reliance group entities, and potential network technology disruptions.

Context

Initial public offerings allow private companies to raise capital from public markets by issuing new shares. Large telecom and digital service providers require constant capital expenditure to maintain infrastructure and secure spectrum licenses for future network expansions.
