Reported by Deepak Mishra (Copy Editor) · BBC Sport ·
Max Dowman netted a brace as Arsenal edged Ipswich Town 4-2 in the Carabao Cup. The 16‑year‑old became the third 16‑year‑old to score for the Gunners in this competition. His two strikes came at Portman Road and helped secure the win. Dowman featured 13 times for Arsenal last season but has been limited to the bench early in the current campaign. Manager Mikel Arteta praised the performance but warned the club cannot rush his development. Arteta said Arsenal must handle his progress carefully despite the promising display. The goals give Dowman a stronger case for more Premier League minutes. Arsenal will decide his role in upcoming league fixtures.
