Defender Jana Fernandez extends London City deal to 2029
Reported by Kavya Rao (Senior Writer) · BBC Sport ·
Jana Fernandez has signed a new contract that keeps her at London City Lionesses until 2029. The 24‑year‑old defender arrived from Barcelona in August 2025 and quickly became a key figure for manager Eder Maestre. She started every Women's Super League match for the club last season, helping the side complete a full debut campaign in the top flight. London City finished sixth in the league, their highest position since promotion. Fernandez’s consistency in defence has been praised by teammates and coaching staff alike. The new deal reflects both her importance on the pitch and the club’s desire to build on last year’s solid performance. With the contract secured, she will remain a central part of the squad for the next four seasons, aiming to improve the club’s league standing further.
