Bovensiepen launches limited‑edition Spider roadster on BMW Z4 platform

Bovensiepen has unveiled the Spider, a limited‑edition two‑seat roadster built on the BMW Z4 M40i platform. The Buchloe‑based firm lists it as its third model after the Zagato and 05 GT, and caps production at 99 hand‑built cars. Orders opened this week and the first deliveries are slated for the end of the first quarter of 2027. The Spider keeps the Z4’s long bonnet, rear‑set cabin and short overhangs but adds a suite of bespoke exterior tweaks: a gloss‑black front splitter with twin tips, vents on the front fenders, side skirts, a rear diffuser, an integrated spoiler and 20‑inch forged wheels. Its dimensions are 4,334 mm long, 1,864 mm wide and 1,304 mm tall, with a kerb weight of 1,585 kg. Paint finishes are limited to 40 in Sapphire Black, 25 in Sanremo Green, 20 in Skyscraper Grey, nine in Thundernight and five in Frozen Grey II. Inside, the cabin mirrors the Z4 layout but receives Vernasca leather upholstery, Alcantara seat panels and a Lavalina leather‑wrapped steering wheel. Standard features include a heated wheel, Comfort Access and a Harman Kardon surround‑sound system. Optional upgrades offer full‑leather trim, a leather dashboard, Alcantara‑covered A‑pillars, a wind‑deflector and a roll‑bar cover, plus personalised headrest embroidery from Bovensiepen’s in‑house saddlery. Each car bears a numbered plaque and offers a 281‑litre boot. Power comes from a 3.0‑litre turbocharged B58 inline‑six delivering 435 hp and 580 Nm, 95 hp and 80 Nm more than the stock Z4 M40i. An eight‑speed ZF automatic sends power to the rear wheels. Acceleration to 100 kph is claimed at 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 260 kph; a Performance Package lifts the top speed to 295 kph and adds a milled aluminium differential cover, larger cooling fins, an under‑body V‑brace, revised dampers and longer rear auxiliary springs. The Spider marks Bovensiepen’s return to the roadster segment, echoing the Alpina Roadster S, and targets fans of lightweight sports cars.
