Welspun Corp shares have surged more than 200 percent year-to-date, defying weak stock market trends caused by high crude oil prices, rising bond yields, and foreign money moving out of the country. Bombay Stock Exchange data shows the stock is up nearly 230 percent so far this year and about 215 percent over the last one year. Longer timeframes show even bigger gains, with the stock jumping nearly 490 percent in three years, 1,670 percent in five years, and 3,575 percent over ten years. On Friday, 16 October, the shares touched an intraday high of ₹2,630.10 after rising about 6 percent. Earlier, the stock hit a 52-week high of ₹2,899.95 on 29 September, climbing up from a low of ₹709.75 on 2 February.

Expert Views
Market experts believe the company has strong long-term growth driven by strategic expansion in the US and Saudi Arabia, but warn that current prices are too high. Ravi Singh of Master Capital Services points out that the stock trades at around 29 times its forward earnings and advises new investors to wait for a price drop to ₹2,015 before buying. Saurabh Jain of SMC Global Securities notes that high valuations mean the stock has already factored in its near-term earnings growth, advising buyers to wait for a healthy correction instead of making large lump-sum purchases. Technical analyst Deepesh Sarawagi from Choice Broking adds that the stock still maintains a bullish structure with higher tops and bottoms, keeping its main support zone between ₹2,450 and ₹2,400.
Context
Welspun Corp operates in the heavy manufacturing and infrastructure sector, where companies often see large stock price moves based on massive long-term order books and global project spending. Strong financial results and large order books frequently attract heavy market interest, though rapid price spikes often lead analysts to urge caution over high valuations. Water and energy infrastructure projects form the backbone of industrial demand for piping and metal products globally.
