Leicestershire County Cricket Club faces drop from top division after heavy points penalty

Leicestershire are very close to getting relegated from County Championship Division One following a deduction of 27 points. This punishment happened because the club broke pitch rules during their win against Glamorgan in August. The independent Cricket Discipline Panel handed down this penalty right in the middle of Leicestershire's second-to-last match of the season. Because of the points loss, the team known as the Foxes has now fallen to the very bottom of the league table. Earlier, Leicestershire earned promotion to the top tier by winning the Division Two title last season. Callum Lewin, who works as the head groundsman for Leicestershire, spoke to the Cricket Regulator before the tribunal hearing took place.
