U.S. House passes bill that could impose full tariff on India’s Russian oil imports

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a sanctions bill that lets President Donald Trump set tariffs on large buyers of Russian oil. The measure authorises a possible 100 percent duty on Indian imports linked to Russia’s energy trade. It also widens sanctions on Russian officials and the country’s energy sector. In addition, the law extends existing sanctions on Iran for another five years. The bill moves to the president for signature, after which the new tariff powers could be used against India if it continues buying Russian oil.
