Tamil Nadu tells green court idol immersion in water bodies will stop by 2027

Tamil Nadu has informed the National Green Tribunal that the immersion of Ganesh idols in natural water bodies will be stopped completely starting from the year 2027. This decision comes in response to a petition filed before the court. The petitioner argued that immersing idols in lakes, rivers, and the sea causes severe pollution in these water bodies. The state government presented its plan to the tribunal to protect local water sources from this environmental damage over the next few years.
