Russian elections set for no surprises as Putin loyalists expected to win

Russia is holding an election this weekend that is expected to keep the ruling party, United Russia, in control of parliament. The system of power in the country is often called managed democracy, where the Kremlin handles the management. This setup gives huge powers to the president and leaves very little room for political surprises. The upcoming vote is set to deliver a house of MPs who are fiercely loyal to Vladimir Putin. At the same time, Steve Rosenberg reports that people have low expectations that this election will bring peace any closer.
