Production-Ready New Hero Dual-Sport Bike Spotted Online
Reported by Rohit Yadav (Staff Writer) · Autocar India ·
Hero MotoCorp may soon bring back the Impulse name after the original model went off sale nearly ten years ago. New production-ready images of an all-new air-cooled dual-sport motorcycle have surfaced online just weeks after Hero filed a design patent for the machine.
Design and Build
The upcoming bike appears much more approachable than current Xpulse models in terms of size and usability. It features a smaller 19-inch front wheel rather than a 21-inch unit, aiming for a friendlier seat height in the 800mm ballpark. Suspension travel and ground clearance are both expected to hover around the 180 to 200mm mark to handle rough roads easily. For safety, the motorcycle is likely to use a single-channel ABS system suited for both on and off-road riding. Equipment will be kept simple to withstand rough conditions and allow easy repairs, featuring a basic LCD display alongside modern LED indicators.
Engine and Pricing
Powering the motorcycle is expected to be a retuned version of the air and oil-cooled engine found on the Xtreme 160R 4V, which uses a 163.2cc single-cylinder motor producing 16.9 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 14.6 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Patent images show the inclusion of a kickstarter alongside an expected electric starter. Pricing is anticipated to sit below the Xpulse 200 4V model, which costs Rs 1.48 lakh, placing it closer to the Xtreme price range between Rs 1.33 lakh and Rs 1.38 lakh. Beyond the Indian market, Hero could also export the new motorcycle to regions like Latin America, Africa, and various Asian and European markets, with a potential debut possibly slated for EICMA.
