UPDATE - follow-up to Everton v Chelsea: Premier League – live: Chelsea secured an away win against Everton after Pedro Neto scored two goals in the second half. The victory moves Chelsea up to fourth place in the Premier League table with 13 points from seven matches, while ending Everton's unbeaten run.
The Match
Neto opened the scoring just 44 seconds after the restart following a tight and physical first half. He added his second goal in the 90th minute with a careful finish into the bottom left corner after Cole Palmer's free-kick hit the defensive wall. The result also gives Chelsea their first clean sheet in the Premier League since January, snapping a 23-game run without one. Owen Hargreaves named Neto as the player of the match on TNT.
Injury Concern
The match saw a lengthy stoppage due to a serious head and neck injury suffered by goalkeeper Emi Martinez following a collision with Jarrad Branthwaite. Medical staff treated Martinez on the pitch before he was carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital. Young Belgian goalkeeper Mike Penders replaced him from the bench for the remainder of the game.
Context
Taking the knee before kick-off marked the start of the Premier League's two-week No Room For Racism campaign. Concussion protocols and head injuries in football have received much closer medical scrutiny in recent seasons to protect player safety.
