Wall Street investors are shifting their focus to upcoming quarterly earnings from major companies including Meta Platforms, Tesla, Netflix and SpaceX. The upcoming reports arrive as markets navigate recent declines in artificial intelligence and semiconductor stocks.

Corporate Earnings

Meta Platforms is expected to report quarterly earnings of $6.67 per share, which is an eight percent drop from last year. Revenue for Meta is projected to reach $63.18 billion, marking a year-on-year growth of 23.3 percent. Meanwhile, Tesla is scheduled to release its results on October 21 for the quarter ended September. Tesla is forecast to post earnings of $0.43 per share, down 14 percent from the previous year, with revenue expected to fall 1.1 percent to $27.79 billion. Netflix will announce its quarterly earnings on October 20 after the market closes, with free cash flow expected to be a primary focus following a second-quarter decline. SpaceX is preparing to announce its third-quarter results late Tuesday, marking its second report since going public in June. Analysts expect SpaceX to post earnings of $0.14 per share and revenue of $12.89 billion.

Economic Indicators

Investors will also monitor key US economic reports during the week for clues about the broader health of the economy. These releases include the University of Michigan's final Consumer Sentiment Survey for October, September leading economic indicators, October flash manufacturing and services purchasing managers' indexes, and the September Pending Home Sales Index.

Context

Major corporate earnings seasons provide a regular quarterly window into the financial health and growth plans of leading public companies. Market analysts closely track these results alongside broader economic data to gauge consumer demand and overall corporate profitability.
